cafeplanet - milk tea making

Today, I was thinking what kind of teas will be good in a hot and humid day.

And I’ve decided to drink milk tea.

Ta-da!  Here are today’s black tea and tea cups.

I prepared today’s milk tea using the same recipe that we use in Café Planet.

In Café Planet, we use St. Dalfour’s English Breakfast Tea when we’re making milk teas.

There isn’t just one black tea specially used for making milk teas.  Most black teas would be good to make into milk tea.

There are some black teas that taste better when drink as straight tea, and some taste better when lemons are added or drink as iced teas.

However, these are all personal tastes.  There are no rules.

In general, breakfast blended teas such as English Breakfast Teas are widely used when making milk teas.

Just like its name, people usually drink this tea in the morning.

As its role is to wake up people, it contains a large percentage of caffeine and taste bitter.

So, it’s quite usual to add milk even when English people drink breakfast teas because it will cause a sour stomach if you drink strong black teas with an empty stomach.

There is nothing special in our recipe.

I use vanilla syrup instead of sugar.

First of all, fill 1/3 of the cup with water and brew English breakfast tea.

And pour in about 6ml of vanilla syrup.

I have tried honeys, Agave syrups, sugar, and other syrups.

It tasted best with vanilla syrups but try not to make it too sweet.

Put only 2ml if you don’t like sweet.
It’s actually better than putting nothing.

You’ll be able to enjoy black tea’s flavor much more and milk will feel softer.

Also, 2ml of vanilla syrup won’t make the tea too sweet.

Lastly, pour in steam milk made by steam pitcher.

If it’s hard to make steam milk at home, you can just cook it in a microwave for about 1 minute and 30 seconds.

However, if you cook it in a microwave or boil it in a pot, a film of milk will be created on top.

You can use it after scooping the film out.

Ta-da! Warm milk tea is ready now.

Strangely, I keep thinking about milk teas when the weather is cloudy and about to rain.

Well, have a great day~
